We play to find each other
A game for families, schools, communities, adults and teams that invites us to really look at each other again, to listen, and to just be together.
Nobody wins and nobody loses. There are colors, questions, movement, silence, words, and moments that let us meet in a whole new way.
The game
Familias de Colores is a board game, and at the same time, an experience you live together as a group.
We sit in a circle and make our way around a board shaped like a rainbow. There are cards, colored silks, questions, movement, and small moments of silence.
Each color opens up a different way of being together. Sometimes a question comes up that makes us stop and think. Other times we're invited to move, to be quiet, to really listen to someone, or simply to play.
There are no points, no competition, and nobody has anything to prove. That's why kids get to be kids, and grown-ups get to loosen up a little too.
You can play it as a family, bring it to a school, share it with a community, or experience it in a circle for adults. The game shifts with the people who bring it to life, but its purpose stays the same: finding our way back to each other.
The heart of the game
In Familias de Colores, we travel through seven colors. Each one brings out a different quality and invites us to relate to each other in a new way.
Red · Strength and courage
What needs to be said out loud. Drive, willpower, a body that's wide awake.
Orange · Joy and abundance
Shared laughter, the warmth of being together, the generosity of giving and receiving.
Yellow · Clarity and movement
A wide-awake mind, quick wit, curiosity, and words that land just where they belong.
Green · Care and balance
Learning to hold each other up, to hear what someone else needs, and to find a place where we can all be together.
Blue · Silence and depth
Truly listening. Making room for what only shows up once we stop talking.
Violet · Seeing and transformation
Seeing someone for who they really are, and discovering what can change when we feel truly seen.
White · Oneness
All the colors come together. The journey is complete, and we come back to the circle.
Gatherings
Every gathering has its own rhythm and its own shape. Playing with one family is a different thing from playing with a class of kids at school, or with adults who come looking for some space for themselves.
The circles listed here are in Spanish. The game is fully adapted for English speakers, too, so if you'd like a gathering in English, just ask.

It can happen at home, out in the countryside, or in a borrowed space. The pace adapts to the ages of the kids who are there.

Here the game becomes a doorway to noticing ourselves, and to truly meeting others.
People who spend all day together but almost never see each other beyond their job titles. The game opens up that other space: no competition, no hierarchy, nothing to prove.
What shows up there (how we listen, how we wait, how we look out for each other) is the very same thing that holds a team together once they're back at work.
The roots
Familias de Colores grew out of many years of working with art, education and communities.
Behind every card, every color and every moment of the game, there's a search, and a body of knowledge that's been built up over time.
The game draws on Goethe's and Rudolf Steiner's theories of color, the work with colors and the qualities of soul they carry, the four temperaments, close observation of the stages of child development, and the cultivation of the twelve senses.
None of this is applied like a formula. It's the backdrop from which I observe people, think through each experience, and build the game.
That's why the same activity doesn't have to look the same for everyone. What makes sense for a little one can be very different for an older child. Age, where the group is at, the setting, and the way each person chooses to take part all shape what happens in the circle.
The game has a structure, but it also leaves room for every gathering to be different.
Who created it
I'm an artist and educator with a degree in Fine Arts. For many years, my work has been rooted in art, education and working alongside communities.
I've worked with children, teenagers, families, schools, foundations and cultural organizations, and for more than twenty-five years I've guided projects around art, identity and place, oral history, and connecting with communities across Colombia and Ecuador.
For several years now I've also been going deeper into Anthroposophy, and I'm currently training in Anthroposophic Art Therapy.
Familias de Colores comes out of that whole journey.
Art taught me how to look.
Education taught me to listen to each person's process.
Working with communities taught me that every group has its own rhythm and its own story.
And play taught me something that seems simple, but that to me is essential: very often, we truly meet each other when we stop trying to teach something and just let ourselves be together.
That's why Familias de Colores wasn't created as a way to fill time. It was born as a way back to each other.

Absolutely. Familias de Colores for Teams is a workplace wellbeing session for work teams. It's a team-building and wellbeing experience that runs half a day or a full day, on-site or off-site.
Yes. We bring it to schools and kindergartens for community-building days, end-of-year celebrations, or parent-and-child gatherings. The format adapts to the kids' ages, the size of the group, and each school's setting.
It's a self-discovery workshop for adults. Over a morning, we play, talk, and travel through the colors and the four temperaments through the lens of our own story. Circles are held in Bogotá and Antioquia and are limited to 12 people. They can be run in Spanish or English.
